Jeffrey Dahmer was a serial killer, who had delusions about creating "zombies" out of some of his victims. After being sentenced to 15 life sentences, Dahmer was killed by a fellow prison inmate.
With Dahmer, the actual murder must have been a relief to some of his victims. With at least one victim, Dahmer drilled a hole through the young man's skull and poured acid into his brain. The plan was to make the victim a zombie, someone that Dahmer could completely dominate. The experiment failed, the victim died soon after.
Most experts believe that usually it's a little of both. Dahmer's homelife affliction was the fact that his parents fought almost continuously. While it must have been extremely unpleasant, it is unlikely to have made him into a killer and cannibal. If everyone became killers who had warring parents there would be nobody left on earth. But Dahmer's father Leo Dahmer admitted to violent fantacies as a young man. Of course the elder Dahmer didn't act on his impulses but genetics can't be denied.

Jeffrey Dahmer's parents divorced when he was very young. He saw them fight a lot and picked up on some of the violence. His parents knew something was wrong with him when he displayed violent behavior towards his aunt. One time she was sleeping and woke up to Jeffrey at the bottom of her bed. He had arranged knives all around her. He wasn't shown love as a child and was addicted to pornography. Later in life, he wanted to fill those urgues and did so to his victims. By him injecting chemicals into their brain, he thought that they wouldn't die and would stay with him forever. Maybe if he had a different childhood, he would've been led to such violent crimes.
Jeffrey Dahmer, an American serial killer and sex offender, was stabbed to death by a fellow inmate while serving his sentence in prison in 1994. Dahmer had been convicted of the murder of 17 people.
I could find no information on Dahmer in Galveston. Maybe you mean his trip to Hollywood, Florida. The year was 1981, the same time that six year old Adam Walsh was abducted from a shopping mall. DNA testing was done to determine if Dahmer may have been responsible for Walsh's disappearance. Dahmer was not a match for the crime but convicted serial killer and chum of Henry Lee Lucas, Ottis Toole was. Toole died in prison long before the DNA comparison so although he was suspected he was never charged for Walsh's death.

Like the rest of the country, the people of Milwaukee were shocked and horrified at the news of Dahmer's crimes. States like California, Florida and Texas have their share of killers as do most other states, but Dahmer came from the midwest. God, family and community are still the way most Midwesterners live their lives. To have a person such as Dahmer come from this environment was a hard pill to swallow. The citizens of Kansas had a similar experience when BTK was arrested. Dennis Rader lived among an unsuspecting community, was a church deacon and a loving family man. It had to have been very hard for Dahmer's and Rader's family members. They are also victims, forced into something not of their own choosing.
