Many books and films use music to create the illusion of romance between character's. While dancing, or performing together onstage, there is often a connection or a spark.
You could try something similar to "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" where the characters fall in love while searching for their favourite band in a large city.
However the best example of falling in love through music, in my opinion, can be
found in the novel "Just Listen" by Sarah Dessen. This book uses music in a very subtle- not cheesey sort of way to bring two unlikely people together.
Other suggestions include:
- Meeting at a musical venue
- Performer falling in love with a fan (or vice versa)
- Focus on an instrument (Protagonist loses guitar, love interest returns it...)
- Road trip with group of friends to see a concert (the two people who hate each other most slowly fall in love as they travel/ arrive)
