the main characters are saphira and eragon. Eragon is the more impulsive of the two. He has a strong sense of what is right and wrong and is an accomplished magician and fighter. due to the removed curse of durza, he now appears to be elf. Saphira is his dragon partner. she is a down to earth calm and collected character who is always watching out for eragon. Aria is the mysterious elf that eragon rescues from durza, and later falls in love with. she is most accomplished at magic and no beginner when it comes to fighting. She has proven to be a good friend of eragon, who travels with him often Roran is eragons cousin. although more sensible than his cousin he is also headstrong. he has proven himself to be a good leader after carvahals journy to join the varden. Nasuada is the leader of the varden a strong and accomplished young woman, she is an awesome leader to the varden. although unsure at times, she always makes sure the varden retain their faith. galbatorix is the antagonist of the story. he is the ruler of alageasia and a tyrant over the people. eragon will have to kill him in the end. murtagh is eragons brother who betrays them to serve galbatorix. his dragon is thorn. although a rider for only a while, he is as strong as eragon angela is the odd herbalist who casts eragons future and whos odd opinions spice up the story. she travels with solembun the werecat. oric is eragons dwarf friend who later becomes the dwarves leader.
