There are cliques in school because most people fall into a category with what their interests are . If you are not in a clique then why not make some new friends and start a clique of your own . New cliques are spawning all the time just like the latest fashion so give it a try you never know what you could find !
Children can form cliques at any age. The most common age would be once they enter school age. Cliques can be a very bad thing and may lead to bullying of other kids.
their are a lot of high school "cliques" Not so much gangs.
Sort of......there is nothing wrong with not fitting into any cliques. Like Claire she didn't fit in the clique at first but then massie let her in the 3rd or 4th book. And everyone doesn't always have a friend at first but everyone will always find one!
Most cute girls come with a huge popularity tag. these girls probably hang out in cliques in malls, hallways at school, and walking around. they are so easy to spot and their cliques are so big that one girl is bound to like you. It is a popularity contest. Maybe if someones "popular"and someone is a "nerd" or a "dork" that would be known as a clique. They can also change in size depending on a school. 2,000 kids with 4 grade levels can have easily 30 cliques of about 20- 100 kids. Though it is not as if they always hang out and know everyone in their clique. It depends upon whether you are discussing youth or adults. Some might argue that cliques are largely a youth issue; however, in adult society cliques continue to exists referred to something different such as social status, etc. Maybe, it just depends on how important we make them.
i guess it depends on the people
Cliques are always mean. There is no way around that because they think everyone is inferior to them and less than them, so they are always jerks to everyone.
Because they feel that they need to belong to a group to "fit in." I am a high school student and I know this from experience.
I think "Breakfast Club" because that's one of his cliques and he is always putting up the sign for it.
There are some cliques out there that are just for popularity, but many people join cliques because they need a group of people to be around to feel accepted even if that group of people is not so nice.
Just imagine high school cliques that you could never escape from, that you depended on for your welfare. Same problems you find in any society: corruption, vice. Like a cult. The leaders always became corrupt...a lot of suspicion...a lot of unfair treatment.
In the book "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson, some of the cliques mentioned are the Marthas, the Plain Janes, the Jocks, the Country Clubbers, and the Schemers. Each group has its own distinct characteristics and social dynamics within the high school setting.
