Why are some countires more developed than others?

Southern countries, clustered closer to the Equator, have much milder falls and winters than Northern countries, and little or no frost and snow to spoil the harvest.

Northern countries - due to colder weather, have a much shorter span of time for harvesting and preparing the ground for the next season's harvest.

Southerners have less sense of urgency. While we in the South knew grains fruit and vegetables would grow and we would hardly starve, grass would grow for our grazing animals whatever the season.

Northerners had to ensure grains, fruits, and vegetables for humans, and grass for animals, had to be made available in a short span of time for the rest of the year, otherwise man and beast would starve.

While in the south we prayed for rain, northerners built reservoirs and canals and dug wells.

Northerners used the cold winter months to plan the next season, and to develop tools and aides to increase productivity. Southerners just waited for weather conditions to be right.

Saving, like in saving food and other resources was mandatory, food storage preservation were created and refined, as a necessity (i.e. pickling, preserves, salting, cheese making, etc.) . In summary sense of urgency , tool development and ''automation'' for increased productivity, planning, saving, storing, preserving and processing were concepts that southerners learned rather than developed out of sheer necessity. Later many of those skills already in the Northerner's idiosyncrasy, would help pave the way for industrialization, and automation.

Another important element is that northerners, during the colder months of winter, could do very little farming (or none), so they socialized, and in those exchanges created and refined the political structures and organizations that would govern them.

Conclusion: development is cold weather induced.
