Ruqaiya Sultan Begum was the first wife of Akbar. She was the daughter of Hindal Mirza, the youngest son of Emperor Babur.

Akbar's first wife was Ruqayya Sultan Begum, daughter of his uncle, Hindal. Twin sons were born to Akbar in 1564, but they died in infancy. His eldest surviving son was Salim (later Jahangir), who succeeded him in 1605.
