The responsibilities of women were to care for the children and keep house.
The first wagon train from Missouri to Oregon was led by Dr. Elijah White. Dr Elijah White was a Presbyterian missionary that guided 1000 men, women, and children from Elm Grove, Missouri to Oregon.
There were not any responsibilities. Upon arriving at a concentration camp women, children, sick, and the unable to work were sent to the crematorium to be burned immediately. :(
This may be a motorman, train operator, or an engineer depending upon the level of responsibilities and the railway. All of which may be done by both men and women.
gathering fire wood, staking the horses unloading the wagon and loading it the next morning, help adults, looked for dried buffolo manure
These women were tough ladies. They hunted, took care of children, helped with the wagon, helped the sick, buried the dead, fought the weather, had babies, and many times finished the trip alone. One women had 6 children when they started, her husband died, she had a baby on the trail, and the wagon went over a cliff. She and her 7 children walked the rest of the way to OR where they found an apple grower who helped her.
If the women is a Housewife, then she will be able to spend more time taking care of the children and keeping up on the house. If the women works then their will be less time for the children and the home and sharing of the responsibilities would be greater with the husband.
Here's the plan: The men have built a false floor in the wagon. The women will lie down in the space between the floors, so that no one will see them leaving town. They'll take the cart to Zacatecas and catch the train there.
they milked the cows keeped fire buring washed dishes shook out blankets and quits in fresh air
LOL Poor kids gonna fail his assignment. Same here LOL, So evil!
Besides hardwork on the farm women would make clothing for themselves and other family members. They would take care of the children in the family.
exactly the same as they have today. One difference in lifestyle however was that we did not have as many gadgets to worry about and a lot of women that had children had a choice in whether they wanted to work or concentrate on family matters.
