Try to respect her. She is your fathers wife and if you love and care about him you will try to get along with her to make his life easier. It is hard sometimes because it is easy to see her as a threat to your dads love, but he can and probably does love you both.

  • If your mother helps to provide a roof over your head; feeds and clothes you; is good to you most of the time then you have no reason to hate your mom. If she asks you to do chores around the house; your homework; ask where you are going when you go out; may not like one or two of your friends or allow you to roam around the streets at night it is because she loves you and has lived more life than you have and wants to protect you from harm as best she can. The word hate is a very harsh word and be careful directing it at anyone you care about because sometimes that person you think you hate at the time because you are angry at them could pass away and that would be the last words they would hear from you. Instead of being immature try sitting down with your mother and let her know how you feel without shouting or arguing and see if you can come to some middle ground. In this world you have to earn trust from people in order to get what you want.

* I have an issue with this too. My mom met a guy online, and we moved in with them. Me and him don't get along usually and he has a ten year old (i'm 17). We use to have to have talks like every other day. My mom finally said if Eric (the guy) doesn't start getting along with me, she would leave him. Now, he usually bears with me. He doesn't start stuff usually with me.

My point is, you're just gonna have to bear with them if you want things to work. If they're grown, then you shouldn't have to live with them. If not, just give them space and they should return the favor. If it's too bad, then leave.

If you hate your stepparent, consider counseling. It may be good for both parties to look in depth at their problems, to see if they can be resolved at all.
