1. Communication- Always talk to get to know each other in order to build upon the relationship. If you two are together and you never talk trust me when I say you won't be together long. Text them a bit or call them for small conversations when you're away from each other just to see how they're doing. Talk to them whenever you can but MAKE SURE YOU DON'T OVER DO IT! No one likes someone who is too clingy. If you text them every minute of every day they will quickly begin to hate when you call because it's annoying. Chat with each other moderately, this helps build a healthy verbal relationship.
2. Knowing- Get to know the other person inside and out. Memorize things about them like their favorite color or favorite bands or food. Know their likes and dislikes so you can be aware of things you should and should not do. It's important that you know who you're in a relationship with.
3. Caring- Make sure you do everything in your power to make sure your partner knows that you genuinely care. This doesn't mean you should force this idea on them in crazy ways like sending them flowers everyday (That's just kind of forcing it). Just little ways to let them know you truly care about them. Examples: Send a card ever or flowers ever so often, send them a letter (written letters seem a bit more romantic lol). Another part of caring is being there for that person when they need you the most. You should be willing to drop anything little thing you're doing if your partner is in trouble or really needs your help (unless you're doing something extremely important like delivering a baby or attending a wedding haha!).
4. Listening- Pay attention to what your partner has to say. It's very important to be in a listening type relationship. You want to know what's on your partner's mind when they feel like sharing it with you. Don't be cold to them and ignore what they say. Listen to them; it's another way to show that you care.
5. Date- Dates help create strong bonds between two people and are very good and needed in order to support a healthy relationship. Even if you're married you should still go out on dates. It helps build upon your relationship with your partner and it creates good memories. That and it's fun. It doesn't have to be some expensive restaurant it could be something as simple as going to the aquarium or visiting the zoo. Little dates like these help you learn who your partner is and also is a fun activity for both of you. WARNING! Be sure that the place that you're going is somewhere your partner is comfortable going. If she/he has an unbearable fear of scary things taking them to the movies to see a Horror movie probably isn't the best of ideas haha! Make sure it's a place where both of you can have a good time.
6. Trust- Trust is a very important key in a relationship. In order to truly love someone you must be able to trust them in both the good times and the bad. Trust that they'll be there for you and that they truly care for you (if they do that is). You have to be able to trust that your partner wouldn't lie to you or do anything to hurt you (intentionally). If you two can form a bond of trust your relationship will go far.
I hope this little lesson in relationships helps :)
