I believe that a good friendship is an open and honest friendship. No friendship is perfect, and arguments arise from time to time but that's normal. A good friend will not do things to hurt you (obviously). For example i had two friends (who i thought were good friends) and we got into a fight for a relatively stupid reason on their part but regardless when we were not on speaking terms they would gossip about me. That is not a good friend at all even though we were fighting i didn't want to do anything to hurt them but they didn't care to hurt me so i moved on and we have not talked since. When you find a good friend you will know if the person is a good friend or not it is how they handle situations. When you first meet a person you know right off the bat if you like his/her personality, or appearance.
