Probably otherwise why would he want to be silly around you? He might want to make you laugh while he's being silly. Which means he might have feelings for you. He might like you as a friend but no one can know for sure you can't look inside someone's head. :)

From everything I've heard, Layne was a cheery guy with an electric personality. There was nobody who didn't like him, other than people that were complete a-holes anyways. He was goofy and playful, always cracking jokes or doing something silly.
