NO it's not fair.

There are at least 8 unique types of love (Google types of love). No matter what kind of love you are talking about, all love is a personal issue. Even if you love someone because they are ( ? ) whatever...it's still is your thing not theirs. You love a baby but the baby knows not what love is, they only know comfort and pleasure on the positive side. You can love your best friend but that doesn't mean they won't betray you and move on. You can love a parent but that's no guarantee they love you too, especially when everything else comes before you. You can love your pet, but it may avoid you more than wag his tail. You can marry someone you love but that person may be marrying you for other reasons that have nothing to do with love, but don't tell you that, or they love you too when they said I do, but later on they don't anymore. The list is endless. On the other hand if you refuse to love anyone because love is no guarantee well that stinks too. They say it's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, may be right. Loving someone is a great feeling, the sooner we don't expect the other persons owes you their love in return the better off you are.

Love is not always fair with the person experiencing it. Sometimes one person loves someone and the loved is not returned. This is either because the person being loved is in love with another or maybe they have just stopped loving the person loving them or they never have and never will love the one giving love. But this is not always the case.
