From a friend of mine: Be relaxed and don't try too hard. It helps to know the person, especially his sense of humor. If you don't know the guy at all, then why are you so interested in making him laugh/smile? From myself: If you know the guy pretty well--like you hang out at school, etc. etc.--then you should know what makes them laugh. If it's someone you don't really know quite as well, like a classmate across the room, it always helps to know one of that person's friends so you can get to know more about that person's sense of humor without embarrassing yourself too much or embarrassing him. If it's someone you totally don't know, why are you even talking to him online????? okay, bye bye
