Give timouts or take away privliges. Tell the child why he or she is being disceplined. Keep eye contact, but keep calm. You want to give the impression that you are serious, but for heavens sake don't scare the child. Getting violent can make the child afraid of you and that can damage your relationship.

1. Be consistent. If you say that play is stopping in ten minutes, stop it in ten minutes. 2. Don't discipline the little stuff that isn't hurting anyone or ruining character.
3. Remember that an undisciplined child is less loved by others, which leads to worse behavior.
4. Spanking is OK if the adult hates to do it and the child is between the ages of 3 and 6.
5. Be a good example.
