You treat your friend the same as you always have. If they're on medication, there shouldn't be any change in behavior. If you do notice a change, comment on it, in respectful way, and continue being a best friend. People who are bi-polar haven't got horns and they won't harm you. They can have bouts of depression and then be high on happiness another moment so just be there as you always have been. Use the internet to learn about bi-polar and let your friend in on the different medications and be willing to go to the doctor with him/her if needed. Sometimes 4 pair of ears is better than 2. Meaning, the person that has the problem is frightened and not hearing everything the doctor is saying.
