Dianetics is a set of ideas and practices regarding the metaphysical relationship between the mind and body that was invented by L. Ron Hubbard and is practiced by followers of Scientology. For most of its existence, Scientology has defined homosexuality as a deviance that needs to be cured. The San Diego branch of Scientology supported Proposition 8 to ban "gay marriage" in the state of California. A 2004 article in the St. Petersburg Times reported that the Church defines marriage as the union between a man and a woman, however, a Church of Scientology representative provided an author who was writing some tomes on religion the following statement in 2005:
"The Church of Scientology does not dictate sexual preferences. Scientology is a practical method of improving conditions in life and works to increase a person's abilities, give higher IQ and better reaction time, greater ability to solve his problems in life - things of this nature."
Still, it is clear that when Dianetics was formulated by Mr. Hubbard he would have been opposed to calling a relationship between same-sex individuals a marriage.
No, inasmuch as it doesn't perform them. The Church of Christ Scientist chooses not to state a specific position on homosexuality, leaving to each member's conscience the subject, which was never commented on by Mary Baker Eddy, its founder. As for weddings, the church has no clergy to officiate, but does still have places of worship and reading rooms in many countries. Civil same-sex marriage of members, then, would be possible where legal, but a church wedding unlikely.
The bible doesn't prohibit interracial marriage. It does, however, ban marriage with a individual who does not believe.
Why is Dianetics not a science?
Dianetics was created in 1950.
The proposed marriage amendment define marriage as a union between a man and woman. It would thus prohibit same-sex marriages.
No federal laws prohibit same-sex marriage in the United States of America, Canada, or other countries where same-sex marriage is legal.
A Doctor's Report on Dianetics was created in 1951.
that would be discrimination
No. In 2006, the Constitution of Latvia was amended to explicitly prohibit same-sex marriage.
It wasn't until 2004 that the federal marriage laws were amended to explicitly prohibit same-sex marriage in Australia.
No law prohibits same-sex marriage in the United States or Canada.Internationally, where same-sex marriage is prohibited, it is as a result of either the marriage law, a separate act, or a provision of the constitution.
It shouldn't. Ask about it.
No. No such amendment has been made.
