You need to feel goth to be goth. You don't have to dress goth, or write goth. You have to be someone that thinks about death and sorrow and the dead. In fact, a goth could live his/her life without ANYONE knowing that he/she is goth, except for themselves. It's about being goth inside. But if you really want to get into goth alot and you can manage to dress goth without your parents freaking out, then go for it!

If you're the opposite of a goth or Emo (those are two different things by the way. They should not confuse them) and people think you are them, then they don't know what a true Goth is. It's a state of mind before it's a style. Just because you wear black doesn't make you Goth. Either way, tell them that they don't know what a true Goth is, and ignore it. Besides, you shouldn't be that ashamed of being called Goth. If your child feels that they want to be goth let them do it just NO BAD MUSIC!!!!

It's something else, and i know im not goth, but that's how it is, its just like being emo, or scene, or retro. You can't just 'be' any of those you want if you don't fully understand it, or even know what it is, like, alot of posers these days are trying to be scene, emo, ect, when they even kno what it is.
