Know the difference between jealousy and envy.
Narcissists are inherently jealous; they dislike when others think someone else is better than them. However, narcissists are not envious because they believe that they are better than everyone else... envy goes against everything a narcissist is.

NPD is a serious mental disorder, and like other people with disorders, narcissists can be unpredictable and sometimes dangerous. We suggest keeping any necessary contact extremely low-key, and avoiding them if possible. Some narcissists have other mental disorders, and some are physically dangerous when thwarted. Just get on with your life, and stay away from the ex. It's safer. You will gain nothing by contact, and it could cost you. Narcissists' egos do not bruise easily, so attempting to make them jealous is not likely to have much effect, and could create problems. On the other hand, with narcissists, out of sight is often out of mind. If you are inaccessible, they are likely to find another mirror and ruin their life instead.

How do you deal with a Narcissistic's rejection?
If it's a close family member (mother, father, child) if can be very painful. However, you must understand that the rejection comes from one thing and one thing only: The narcissists need for narcissistic supply. Narcissists are extremely jealous and self-centered people. They expect every ones world to revolve around them and them alone. Forget about your needs, thoughts or emotions. They are jealous of others time, attention, successes, money and appearance. If you happen to have any of the things mentioned, or if they think you do, and in their minds, it's more than they have, you are in line for their rejection. I have also noticed that once you have a narcissists number and don't buy into the drama they constantly create, they will move on to another who, just like you at one time, bought into their charm and stories. You will be put out of the narcissists "good graces", your character will be assassinated and they will employ others, through their pathological lying, to isolate you. Now, I ask you, Who needs to be involved with a "family" member like that? If they rejected you, you are free to live your life and find peace and joy in your own spirit.
