Internal customers could also be seen as employees of the facility purchasing goods or services from the facility. For instance, at our hospital employees may buy supplies from our Central Supply. They can also buy drugs from the pharmacy. They can also have their blood drawn without having to go to an independent phlebotomist. If they were to come in as a patient they would be receiving services.

Internal users are individuals within an organization who have authorized access to its systems and data to perform their job responsibilities, such as employees, managers, and IT staff. External users, on the other hand, are individuals or entities outside the organization, such as customers, vendors, or business partners, who may interact with the organization's systems, products, or services but do not have the same level of access as internal users. One way to distinguish between them is by setting up user accounts and permissions that define the level of access granted to each type of user.
