its really a matter of opinion because he does carry a satellite phone most of the time but he he's only used it as far as i know, i would like to say also that most of the time the phone really wouldn't work. he is alone in the wild with real dangers so you decide he's realer than "man v.s. wild " I'd say that.

That I feel is enough info to answer the said question but if you still want to know if Survivorman is real I would suggest watching the shows from Episode 1 Season 1 to the last episode in Season 3. If you have watched it once than you can not fully comprehend the depth that Les put himself through each time. As for any comparisons to "Man vs Wild" than I suggest you watch this video and judge for yourself.
