This is probably due to how the average public is becoming less satisfied with Western medicine, which mostly only prescribes drugs and surgery, and becoming more interested in natural ways to maintain health. Also, we all have a need to touch, and be touched in a safe non-sexual way, in order to feel nurtured and happy, it can be easy to understand why so many people are choosing massage therapy as a career.
Another reason may also be that some may become massage therapist because they enjoy making other people feel relaxed, and allowing the other person to just unwind.
