Im 24 years old and im 5' 11 inches and i currently weight 275lbs. That's high, but as far as feeling healthy and being active than yes i am!

BMI Categories:

  • Overweight = 25-29.9
  • Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

So according to the BMI i am obese. But like i said, I don't look anything like obese. I look like your average college student with a bit of a gut.. ( not one that even extends over my belt! )

BUT for whatever reason, this is what docs or whomever came up with to say what your weight to height ratio should be at.

I find it kind of geared towards skinny people or people who are in excellent shape. Not everyone can find time to do that and excersice like that, but that's the way it goes.

for me to say obese? No way.. overweight yes, but according to this... no...

to me, the definition of obese is a 360lb person who has to wear pants that are like size 60 or someone who cant get out of bed..... that's obese to me...

i run and jog and even play ddr on heavy mode..... yet according to this im obese? Hmmm

the ideal weight realy also depepents on the muscle you have many men are extreamly heavy but that is because of their muscle now don't confuse that with excesive fat you can tell when its mucle and when its not

There is no set answer. Body weight is a misleading measure. Since people have different builds, different people of the same height and sex can have the same percentage of body fat and yet have different body weights.
