The more physically fit one is, the hope is that the fewer the resources required to maintain that person's healthy state. A lot of resources are used to process foods. In theory, a physically fit person will be more likely to eat fresh and wholesome foods rather than those that are overly manufactured. This also saves on packaging and hopefully the environmental costs of shipping raw ingredients to the manufacturer, the manufacturing process and the transport of the packaged food to the local market.
