The automatic Toyota may be stuck in park because of transmission problems. The transmission may be jammed or stuck in that gear.
park safety switch on the back of the brake pedal is bad or disconnected
Sounds like you have a busted linkage somewhere
It is true that a vehicle with an automatic transmission can start in either park or neutral.
I would suggest that your Saab 9-5 gearbox is broken.
well if your s-10 is stuck in park there is a good chance the transmission is bad in it.
Transmission cable that runs to your transmission is either broken or the link has came apart. Replace the cable and/or transmission and make sure if you have an automatic, to press down on the brake pedal before shifting out of park, most cars from 1960- 2010 have a lock-out feature so you cannot shift in or out of the Park position unless you are pressing the brake pedal.
If your Geo Prizm is stuck in park and will not shift, the transmission is locked up. It will need to be serviced.
brake lite switch will keep it in park
There could be a couple of reasons why a Nissan vehicle could be stuck in park. The shifter could be stuck or broken. The transmission may also be out or in need of fluid.
Maybe car is in park.
There may be a place near the gear shift to insert a screwdriver and 'unlock' the gears manually. Possibly a blown fuse created the problem.
