To change the camshaft positioning sensor on a 98 GMC Jimmy you need to first locate it. The sensor is located within the distributor. Next, unbolt the old sensor and replace with a new sensor.

Cam position is taken from the distributor. There is no separate cam sensor.
1996 and later models-the camshaft position sensor is located on the back of the distributor, drivers side.the loss of the camshaft position sensor signal will not affect the driveability of the vehicle. whoops,that sensor is located in the distributor,the one on the back is the ignition module.

The 2000 Mercedes-Benz E3 20 crankshaft position in sensor is located on the back of the crankshaft. You will need to remove the rear engine cover in order to see the sensor.
