where eaxactly? not sure but if you can find the belts on the motor they will be connected to the alternator. It is towards the rear of the car.
GOOD, IT WASN'T ONLY ME, I looked for a coupla days frustrated I looked it up in the manual, crossed referenced Google, and I found it, it's directly behind the main wheel and since my model is a chimera (ie 76 frame, 79 body and 84 engine) this bit of knowledge comes in nicely, the shroud must be removed, I found a copy of the company's stutgardt newsletter explaining the ground problem in the earlier 80's models, it seems that the ground strap in these vehicles attaching the alternator to the engine was inadvertantly not installed, so, if you get to replace your alternator, remember to include the ground strap. these ground straps are crucial, if not, the alternator will drain the battery. this missive from the company, includes the information as to where the alternator is found

"The alternator for the 911 motor is attached to the rear of the fan, and is enclosed within the fiberglass fan housing. To remove the fan and the alternator on a 911, you do not need to remove the engine from the car. However, for the 914-6, it is impossible to remove the alternator without removing either the engine, or the fuel injection (Weber carbs, etc.). Figure 1 and Figure 2 show the rear of the 2.7L 911 motor. This particular motor is shown removed from the car, and has a 914-6 motor mount attached. The coil is attached to the fan housing on the left above the distributor."
It is BUILT into the Alternator, It is all 1 unit.
The EGR valve on a 92 E-150 is located on the passenger side front of the engine. The EGR valve is on a pipe just behind the alternator.
If you are dealing with a 1.8 engine, it should be the same as my '94 - directly behind the alternator.
The alternator on a 92 Nissan Maxima is changed by disconnecting the wiring harness, loosening the retaining bolts, and removing the drive belt. The bolts can then be fully removed and the alternator swapped out.
