it has a chain not belt
The only real answer to this is to replace it. You can use some additives that claim to seal the leak but I've always found these types of product to cause more damage than they repair.
very simple, never. the 2.8 and 2.9 vr6 engines do not have cambelts, they have camchains. the chains do not have a reccomended change interval however they may start to rattle slightly after many years of abuse then they could do with changing other than that they should outlive the car.
it is located behind the driverside front indicator
The knock sensor for a 2.8 vr6 is located on the side of the block. It is right against the hose for the oil cooler.
Where on the rack is it leaking? if it is a union (where the hydraulic pipes and the rack meet) then you may just need to tighten up the union, however if it is leaking from the steering rack gaitor then it isn't as quick as doing up a bolt. The only way to solve a leaking power steering rack, if it is leaking from anywhere other than a union, on the sharan (7M0) is to replace the rack, it is a fairly simple job that any practiced home mechanic with the correct tools can do. I hope this helps but if you have any other queries on this please contact me and I can answer in more detail for you.
If it is a VR6 engine it might be a cracked coil pack. You can check this by spraying a mist of water over the coil pack while the engine is running. If there are cracks sparks will run on the outside of the coil pack. If you do this while it is dark the sparks are often easy to see.
173 bhp on 2,8 shortblock vr6 engine and 193 bhp on a 2,9 long block vr6 engine
Under the coolant bin, on the right top side of the hood.
VR6 12v-175hp around 170lbs of torque VR6 24v-200hp around 180lbs of torque
The Vr6. Like the Foreigner classic, the vr6 is "HOT Blooded!" 220 is about average temp."Check it and see!"
