Any sub-compact, compact, or mid-sized car sold within the last 10 years is a fuel efficient car.
According to the website published by the US Department of energy (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bestworst.shtml) the most fuel efficient car is the Toyota Prius. It gets 51 mpg in the city and 48 mpg on the highway.
US News has the ranking for the best efficient cars. You can read them at http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/rankings/Affordable-Small-Cars/
Almost all the Japanese cars! ;D
It should be diesel fuel in a diesel car - in the US and Europe, that will be #2 Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel.
As my own knowledge why fuel is important to us is dat most of the motor engines where using fuel and without fuel it can't move, and dis sources of transports bring income to does people driving commercial car, even with those driving there personal car.
The most fuel effincient car is the Honda Hybrid. --- Hydrogen-fueled cars such as the Honda Clarity FCX and new H2 Mazda RX-8 don't even use gasoline/diesel. Volkswagen Lupo 3L uses 78 miles per US gallon or 94 miles per Imperial gallon. Fuel efficiency is often confused with fuel economy. If you drive a Toyota Prius like an angry teenager, you probably get worse fuel economy than if you drove a BMW 325i like a 45 year old schoolteacher, even though the BMW has far worse "fuel efficiency".
A top fuel funny car can use up to 15 US gallons per pass

The Jetta/Golf/Beetle TDI from 1999.5 to 2003 are roughly the most fuel-efficient cars available. The Toyota Prius ranges from slightly better to slightly worse, depending upon model and testing conditions. My 2003 Jetta Wagon TDI will go all day long at 75mph with the A/C on and still clock 50mpg. The term biodiesel can mean anything from B5 (5% biodiesel - 95% petrodiesel blend) to 100% vegetable oil. As stock, TDIs can run biodiesel blends. With some additional parts, TDIs can run straight veggie oil. The first company to come out with a diesel-electric hybrid in the US will probably exceed 60mpg.
