It depends on how many tools you have.
The gasket set costs $60 for an inline 4-cylinder; not sure about the price for the V-6 set because my supplier is out of them. I would also change a few other parts while you've got the engine out anyway - timing chain, guides and tensioner, spark plugs, water pump and crankshaft front main seal at the minimum, and I would really think hard about changing all the belts, the clutch and the oil pump too. And you're gonna have to pull the engine because it's exceptionally hard to get the timing cover off if you don't. So...$300 to $500 worth of assorted parts. Plus, you need to take the head to a mechanic and have it honed so it's good and flat.
Now for the fun part: Do you have the tools and expertise to remove the engine from a Saab and do all the work you need to? If not, figure on this being at minimum a $1000 job.
