I had the same problem, depends on what you need, we bought a new key from Ebay (around 40) and just moved the part we needed (battery reader) from that key to my original key. Apparantly the microchip and blade can be moved across, though you have to be careful not to damage it in the process.
My 98 RXE with G8Tdeisel 2.2 has a belt
E-mail Haynes Car Manuals and ask if they do a manual for this vehicle, then buy one.
This unit is basically the same as the D770 universal remote. You can download instructions from RCA at RCA.COM. The Only difference is there is no light below the ON/OFF button, the individual buttons will light, and when you hold down the device key and the on/off together all lights will come on.
DTi means - Diesel Turbo injection. RT is the spec level On the Scénic, RT is a good model. Bottom of the range is the RN, then comes your RT, then the luxurious RXE.
rmove the windshield battery, and you can reach in and feel the risistir and plug, it is held in place with two screws, Philip head, they are hard to get to withot removeing the heater blower.
On my 98 RXE diesel its under the carpet on the passenger (left ) floorwell. Lift the plastic plate and you'll see it bottom left. It is coloured white on my car. All the other relays down there are blue!
I had the same issue and I could get the part out with a 0.6m long flexible grabber. First you should remove the oil separator. I not exactly could grab it, the broken part comes up together with the flexible grabber when I pulled it out.
Actually your half right . They can have either both dependent on what model you have. I have a 1998 2.0l 16v RXE estate. This model has either dependent on the spec. I have the top spec with leather seats etc and my car has rear brake disks. The normal ones have drums. I dont think this wasa good idea as the callipers keep seizing up.. but then again its French and nothing french ever really works the way it should!!
