They will not reach the plug, therefore the engine will not work.
The length of the metal threads at the end of a spark plug is called the "reach".
If the engine is OHV Intek with an RC12YC long-reach plug it is 0.020" If it is a valve in block with a 1/2" reach plug it is 0.030"
A spark plug for a 2003 Mazda Protege has a 14 mm thread size, and a 19 mm reach. The gap is 1.1 mm.
You have to take the gas tank off then you should be able to reach it\
Remove the coil pack for each spark plug, then reach inside the hole with a ratchet extension and unscrew them.
Engine 3.3L Spark Plug RE14PLP5 Gap 0.048 TO 0.053 Thread Size 14mm (1 in.) reach This Engine uses Champion Platinum tipped Spark plugs.
Remove cover on top of engine, pull plug wires straight up.The spark plugs will be down in a hole for each cylinder. You need a spark plug socket and a long extention to reach them.
You have to remove the Coil on Plug modules from the intake, and then use a long extention to reach to spark plugs deep in the intake manifold. Instead of having spark plug wires going to the tops of each spark plug, the system has a separate ingnition coil attached to each spark plug instead. Just a little more involved than older cars.
If you mean that the wire came out of the boot, then pull the boot off of the spark plug and use a spark plug socket to remove the spark plug.
Its in the top of the head. You have to reach up between the gas tank and head and feel for the plug wire. pull the spark plug cap and its down a couple inches. use the factory wrench to get to it. Its a pain.
you pull off the ht lead and then use a long reach socket to undo the spark plug. its a 10mm or 14mm spark plug socket i think. all this is under the cover ontop of the enigne i think. when you do them up, only nip them to 10-12nm of torque or it can damage them.
