This sounds like a problem that is better left to the Jaguar dealer to resolve. The security system and interfaces are extreamly complicated.

AnswerJust happened to my 2001 Jaguar S Type. Problem was the entire electrical system had become wet. Needed a new wire harness, fuse box, etc. etc. etc. The part where the car won't shut off when the key was removed all I had to do is step on the brake and the car shut down.

Not to scare anyone, but it may be a combination of more than one concurrent problem as well:

1) I had a situation when the flooded trunk caused alarm activation, running out of battery and then preventing the start.

2) I had a problem the car forced into a Failsoft mode mode, - but this one was caused by a faulty rear control unit ("computer") in the trunk (located behind a side panel on the gas cap side) - this intermittent failure was forcing the car in the FailSoft mode as well.

What is engine failsafe mode in a mustang?

I am not sure of the cause, but the Failsafe Engine Mode has been a recurring problem in my 2005 Mustang for about two years and over 40000 miles now. At first it occurred intermittently but then developed into a frequent occurrence. The check engine light may or may come on at the same time. When going into Failsafe Engine Mode, th 'Failsafe Engine Mode' wording appears on the dash where the odometer is. Upon taking it to the shop when the problem first started to frequently occur, the fault code indicated the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) so I had that replaced but the problem immediately reappeared. Reprogramming ('reflashing') the computer helped for a number of months but then the problem appeared again, at first intermittently but again developing more frequently. When Failsafe Engine Mode occurs, the engine loses much of its power - I am not sure if it is true but I have read this is due to deactivation of some of the cylinders. My vehicle is a 6 cylinder. I do appear to get slightly better gas mileage while in Failsafe Engine Mode according to the on board computer (you can not access any information on the odometer / information display while in Failsafe Engine Mode but turning the engine off and restarting the car will reset the computer and it is at that time that I have frequently noticed my gas mileage has increased, thus perhaps it is true that some cylinder deactivation occurs while in this mode). I hope I can find a fix soon - I am at this time getting ready to take the vehicle back to the shop for another try at fixing it. I am writing this response while not signed in but if you would like a photo of the Failsafe Engine Mode displayed on the dash you can e-mail me at topojijo302@yahoo.com. Craig

Where is the ignition switch on a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am?

The ignition switch is immediately behind and attached to the ignition lock cylinder. The ignition lock cylinder is where you place the key to start your vehicle. If you are haveing problems with your vehicle not starting and or turning the key, more than likely you need to replace the ignition lock cylinder. It is common for these to go bad in GM vehicles.
