The cam belt which works the water pump. Cheers. Donna
first check you haven't got a blown fuse.then check that water hasn't got into the electrics.
It's connected to the water bottle, halfway down towards the rear of the engine.
Perhaps cracked block?
Got no water in the bottle or a blocked pipe
Yes it does, due to the nature and location of the water pump its good practice to change this whilst you are doing the belt,if you choose not to ,be it on your head if it fails after you have had the belt done.
I have the same re-occuring problem on my 2001 scenic. Good thing is its an easy fix. There is a valve in the washer pump which changes direction depending on which washer you press and it can stick, so you just take the valve out clean it and the problem goes away until a bit of dirt gets in and the valve sticks again. ----- I had the same problem on my 54 plate - motor operated for front wash, but waster came out on the back screen. Following advice on other sites, I pumped the water out of the system, then topped up with some hand hot water. Let it stand for five minutes and then pump through the system. This worked at first, bu then the valve stuck again. Rather than stripping the pump out, I found a joint in the washer pipe that runs between the offside wing and the bonner hige plate. Split the pipe at this point and then used a foot pump to blow back into the reservoir. Put a little detergent in the water and flushedit through.
Scenics suffered from leaking sunroof which damaged the reicever for the C/L and immob in the interior mirror. Chech to make sure its not full of water. Apart from that you are stuck with a very poor quality immobilizer from Renault. If its any conselation, there are loads of Renault drivers in same position. Hope this helps.
