Dismantle and inspect all the failed components. Cut apart old filter drier and inspect for wear particles. Make sure the filter is 100% effective in stopping all wear particle from circulating through system. If there is any doubt at all, then it is wise to fit an extra filter anywhere in the TX valve supply line. Use the largest filter you can squeeze in the engine bay and make up two new hoses to suit, using bubble crimp tooling. The filter must have a fine Micron rating and does not need to contain any desiccant, because the original filter drier in series has enough inside it. Remove and clean TX vale and flush entire system of wear particles. Drain and measure oil out of new compressor. Add or remove oil quantity, so that it is equal to 20% of system Gas Charge. Evacuate system for minimum of one hour and gas up with pure R134a, which does not contain a leak dye, because we have found this dye to be abrasive and drastically shortens compressor life.

These deduction are based on a period of 20 years, maintaining a fleet of 100 trucks and keeping records of what gives the longest compressor life. One of our Sanden Compressors lasted 14 years and 1.5 million kilometers on an N12 Volvo Tipper working in a dusty environment where the owner had the windows always shut and never turned the AC off. This compressor never wore out, but pulled a small end out of one of its 5 pistons due to metal fatigue.

Hope this tip prolongs your compressor life.
