They're pretty pricey, mostly because they have to be married to the car by the dealer (or someone with a Tech II, which is a few thousand bucks). A key for a 9-5 was $250 as quoted to me by the dealer, then you have to have the labor done to marry it. You're best off getting a key "blank" from the dealer without the electronics. Then buy a used key off eBay JUST for the electronics. Assemble the blank and the electronic part together and then bring it to the dealer and they will charge you probably 1/2 hour labor for using the Tech II. All in all you should be able to get it done for around $150 total.
The additional expense to insure a convertible varies based on age, driving history, and credit history. Additional expenses include the type of convertible, the replacement cost, and location of vehicle.
YOU CANT HAHHAA
Unfortunately the top will cost you around $300 if that's all that is wrong. If you lost the latches or if they are bad you will have to replace those and they will be another $20 or so.
A model in good condition from 1998 (last year of production) will cost anywhere from $2000 to $2700. There are other factors that will affect pricing, such as whether or not it is a convertible.
