An X5 engine should get in excess of 500,000 miles if it is properly maintained (Oil changes most important). Use synthetic oil and change it religiously at 5,000 miles. At each 100,000 mile interval, have a chip detection done on the engine oil from a reputable source. This will indicate any excessive wear on identifiable engine parts.

I have a 1997 BMW 840Ci which I have had converted to Gas/LPG. I can't tell you what the MPG is as, whilst it's cold it runs on Petrol and when the engine's warm, will switch to Gas. I can tell you though that, at the current price of LPG (approx 48p), it costs me around £35 for 200 miles. Work out what you can from that. Cheers.
