Upstream O2 sensor is located on the first muffler pipe coming out of the engine. This sensor can be found after you open the whood and look directly behind the engine. The sensor is connected to a wire and will end on electric connection to your computer.
All this work is done from under the car. There are two sensors on the S70. One is called the upstream( located higher up on the exhaust manifold) and the other would be the downstream. They are located on the exhaust pipe prior to the cat. converter. Unscrew the sensor (need to borrow a special tool) and follow the wire up around the engine to a small connector. Be sure to use anti-seize grease around the threads of the new O2 sensor(s). rcal13a@yahoo.com
To change an O2 sensor you need to disconnect the wiring harness from the sensor. Use an O2 sensor socket and ratchet set to remove the old sensor and replace with the new one.
An O2 sensor unscrews just like a spark plug.
Remove the vacuum hose from the O2 sensor. Remove the wiring harness. Remove the O2 sensor retaining screws. Reverse the process to install the new O2 sensor.
