If you mean the small compartment with the cover at dash center, use a piece of hard plastic (guitar plectrum or a small bike tire lever) and pry carefully along the perimeter, starting from the two sides close to the vents. The hardest part (in my case at least) was disconnecting the alarm switch as the cables were too short to reach behind the panel.
