Persistence. The slide assembly used for these headlights is ingenious and infuriating at the same time. Make sure that the lugs are matched up to the slots that they go through. Gently but, firmly move the light assembly into the socket assembly until it stops. Turn the lever to pull the light assembly back into place. Wiggle the light assembly while turning the lever to help it go smoothly. If it does not go the first 2 or 10 times, do not get frustrated. It will go and the next time you have to change one out it will take 1/10th of the time.
Open the hood. Unplug the headlight, then pull the headlight from the outside. Little by little until it comes off. Replace the bulb. Put headlight back in carefully. Make sure it makes a clicking sound. Plug back your headlight. And your good to go. Oh by the way it takes 2 people to do this.
alright take off the basil, the chrome ring around the headlight it self. now there should be some screws holding the entire headlight assembly to ur fender, remove those screws. now your wires should be clipped into a plastic piece which is connected to the contacts on the back of your headlight, remove that plastic piece with the wires, now take your new headlight and re-connect the wires to the back, put the screws back in the headlight assembly where they came from and put the basil back on. Ta-Da you've just replaced your headlight. check the headlights to see if you did it right. now stand back with a beer and admire your work. lol
open the hood, remove 3 screws on each headlight and pull the headlight straight out, unscrew the black plastic cap, loosen spring retainer but don't remove it. install new bulb and put it back together.
Take a hammer. smash the headlight assy. lens. Remove old bulb, put in new.
unscrew plug 1/4 of a turn anti clockwise. pull out old bulb replace then put plug back opposite to how you removed.
Well, the engine in a 1974 vw Beetle is in the back of the car. So the brake fluid in front or the back to the left of the right.
open the hood. in back of headlight assembly there are two metal slides with pull tabs. pull them up then wiggle the headlight assembly. it should fall right out. with it out you can get at the bulbs.
If it is like my 99 Regal, it is really easy. Lift your hood up and look behind your lights. You will see two white long clips. Pull up on these clips and pull them off. Pull your headlight out the whole headlight. Pull the little black rubber pieces off of the back of your headlight and your bulbs should be inside the headlight. Twist them out and change them and put your headlight back the way it was originally and put the clips back on to hold it in place and your done.
Open the hood and look at the headlights. There are 2 pins on each headlight that go downwards to hold the headlight in place. Pull them both out and then unplug the headlight and blinker wires from the bulbs. then twist the bracket around the bulb counter-clockwise and pull out the bulb. Put the new ones in and put the bracket back on, twisting clockwise and put the headlight back, plug in the wires and push in the pins and your done
On the top of each headlight assembly, you will see two small semi-circular tabs. Pull these tabs upwards - you may have to use a wrench or screwdriver to put some force into it, as they tend to get stuck with road salt and grime. Once they move upwards, about 3/4 inch or so, the headlight assembly will release. You can then pull the headlight assembly forward and out of the truck. It will be attached only by the wires. Rotate the lightbulb assembly counter clockwise, and the bulb will come out. Replace the bulb, put it back into the headlight assembly, and rotate it clockwise to lock it in. Replace the headlight assembly, making sure the three screw/nuts are in the locking tabs correctly. While pushing the headlight assembly inwards, press the two locking tabs back down. This will lock the headlight assembly back into the truck, and realign the headlight, so that it does not have to be aimed again.

Tske out the old ones by removing the screws. Unplug the headlight. Plug in the new headlight. Put it all back together.
