Probably need to replace the whole mirror unit. This is held in place by cross headed screws clearly visible when you pull off the plastic trim behind the mirror above the door panel. It is. literally, a five minute job to replace the unit. Replacements available from 'wing mirror man' - see website. Also offer helpful telephone advice.
