I just changed my girlfreinds 01 S60 turbo using the link below.

Some considerations:

You will have to remove the plastic pannel on the underside of the car. It is held in place by about 7 12MM bolts.

Secondly, a standard oil filter wrench will not work, you need more clearance and hence a ratchet "cup style" should do the trick.

A 2001 Volvo S60 will require a V410 "cup style" ratchet easily acquired for under $15 online. Do not try to use a regular oil filter to remove it or you will break the plastic casing.
