Audi, like most manufacturers, use different radios for different models and different countries. The radio requirments for the vast open spaces of Australia are different from the requirements of, say, Belgium. Each car comes with a separate booklet for its radio. There is also a radio security code (usually 4 or 6 digits dependign on the system) and instructions in this booklet on a tear out card the size of a credit card telling you how to enter it. It also tells you to take this card out of the booklet and keep it in your wallet. New owners do this then sell the car to you without the card. The idea is SECURITY so the only way to fix the problm is to go to your Audi dealer, prove to them your ownership of the car, they will then check thier computer (sometimes having to pull out the radio itself to get its serial number off the bottom of the casing) and do whatever your particular radio needs to be brought back to life. They will usually charge for this work.
Frankly, I've always considered security to be a pile of nonsense. I wrote doe the instructions from the dealer on a fresh card and put it in my manual. If you want to steal my car for this old radio, you've got bigger problems than me. I later replaced the radion with a more modern unit with updated features and I no longer have the problem.
