Battery and brake light coming on means the Alternator is not charging the battery . It could either mean a bad circuit connection or the alternator is just shot. Have the Alternator checked.
I have replaced the alternator then a blinking light came on and says check charging system. The battery was then switched out, the light continues to blink I had the new alt checked and it is working fine. Any suggestions?
you may have a bad battery or a bad voltage regulator
Your battery and alternator need attention. It sounds as if the charging is faulty and your battery has degraded.
The choke light came on in my 1984 Celebrity when the alternator belt broke thus not charging the battery. Replacing the belt caused the choke light to go out. Since then I have noticed that whenever the alternator is not putting out enough voltage the choke light comes on.
Charging system problem. Take the ruck to the auto parts store, they can tell you what is wrong, probably the alternator.
The alternator may not be charging. Take it to your local auto parts store and have the charging system tested.
Battery light usually means alternator not charging. Most common solutions would be be a bad alternator, bad connection, or loose alternator belt. If the battery and alt test ok than check the connections to the alternator and battery.
The volts light coming on in your 1995 Chevrolet Lumina could indicate a problem with the charging system, such as a failing alternator or a weak battery. It is recommended to have the charging system checked by a mechanic to diagnose and address the issue.
That's not 12 amps, that's 12 volts, which means the system isn't charging Measure the voltage across the battery terminals,if its charging properly,it will be between 13.8 and 14.7 volts, anything less and its not charging. Suspect then a faulty alternator or wiring problem. and have the battery properly recharged and tested too,a low battery will not give you a correct charging reading and a faulty alternator can take its toll on a battery.
i need to know if it is alright to drive this car like this Sounds like you left a wire loose, or blew a fuse. If the battery light is on, the alternator is not charging properly and it is not safe to drive.
Alternator is not charging battery sufficiently check with voltmeter With engine running voltmeter should read 13.8-14.2
