July 26, 2009 The 1908 Saint-Gaudens double eagle has 2 varities; one with the motto "In God We Trust" and one without the motto. These coins were produced at the Philadelphia, San Francisco and the Denver mints. The mint mark for Denver can be found on the obverse [heads] side of the coin just above the date and will be the letter "D" and is shown as 1908-D in the values chart below. The letter "S" indicates the coin was minted at San Francisco and is shown as 1908-S in the values. There is no mark for the Philadelphia mint and it is shown as 1908-P in the values chart below. All of the 1908 coins struck at San Francisco have the motto "In God We Trust" on them. The values of both varities in MS63 are shown in the chart which follows. Uncirculated.........MS63 1908-P without the motto...................$1,945 1908-P with the mot............................$2,450 1908-D without the motto....................$2,300 1908-D with the motto..........................$2,200 1908-S...................................................$22,000
August 22, 2009 532,000 Quarter Eagles {$2.50} were struck in 1929 at the US Mint in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The circulated and uncirculated values are shown int he following list: Circulated Grades............1929-P G4.....................................$154 F12....................................$184 EF40..................................$256 AU55..................................$280 Uncirculated Grades MS60.................................$326 MS62.................................$575 MS63.................................$1040 MS64.................................$1590 MS65.................................$4560 MS66.................................$13,430
That depends. If you're referring to the $20.00 coin, then the value as legal tender (spending money) is $20.00. The melt value for gold is in excess of $1000 (as of October 2009 gold prices). The numismatic collector's value of such a coin could be considerably in excess of $1000, if the coin was a particularly fine strike, in uncirculated condition.
Regardless of type or mint mark values are $1,440.00-$1,660.00 for a circulated piece.
But with mint state coins, type and mint mark matter a lot. Values run from $1,890.00 to over $20,000.00 depending on type, mint mark and the grade of the coin
There was no 1924 S gold eagle ($10). The Double Eagle ($20) is the only US gold coin minted that year, and 1924 S MS63 is currently listed at $23,500 on the PCGS website.
$10 or $20 coin. Post new question.
what is the value of a 1924 St. Gaudens Double Eagle gold coin
If you are in possession of a 1924 Saint-Gaudens $20 Double Eagle gold coin, its value in extra-fine condition (EF-40) is: $1225.00.
The only gold coin that I am aware of that was minted by the US Treasury in 1924 was the Saint-Gaudens $20 Double Eagle. This coin had a diameter of 34mm and weighed 516 grains (33,436 grams). Its value in extra-fine condition is: $1225.00.
what is the vaule of a 1924 miss liberty one dollar coin
2.79mm is the nominal thickness of the 1924 Saint-Gaudens $20.00 double eagle.
Assuming the coin is circulated and has no mint marks, retail value is $1,330.00-$1,500.00 NOTE: $20.00 gold coins are double eagles $10.00 coins are eagles.
"double eagle penny" is kind of an oxymoron. A double eagle coin has a face value of $20. However, a gold coin is probably worth considerably more than face value.
The 1924 Philadelphia issue Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is the second most common coin of the series. A certified example in MS-65 has an average retail value of $2,500.00. The Melt Value of the coin as of 11:41am 12-24-10 is $1,339.40
Please report back to me and tell me the coin's denomination - is it a quarter eagle, a half eagle, etc. (?) and the coin's mint state.
There's no such coin. At the time, an "eagle" was a $10 gold piece. There were $20 coins called double eagles, but never a $25 coin. Please check again and post a new question.
The 1924 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is tied with the 1928 as the most common coin of the series. Mint State coins are very plentiful and circulated examples do exist. For a accurate value the coin should be seen and graded. Assuming the coin has no mintmark. A typical Mint State coin (MS-63) has a retail value of $2,260.00. A circulated example (EF-40) is $2,100.00.
