The Wise Old Woman is a story about a kind young farmer and his old mother. The cruel young lord who ruled the village disliked old people, so his decree was to banish anyone over seventy-one from the village and "be left in the mountains to die." When the farmers mother turned seventy-one, he brought her up to the mountains but decided to stay hidden in their home. One day another lord threatened to conquer the village, so the young cruel lord asked for help from people in the village. In summary of what happened, all the wise and intelligent answers that helped save the village from the lord were from the wise old mother, so the young lord started to respect his elders because of their wisdom.
