the main girl sets out to the city and she is suppost to be a maid but instead thewomen who she was sold to sold her into sex slavery so now she often gets raped in this place but she has no freedom until she pays the main women her 20,000 dollars she paid for her back. (but in reality she only pain 10,000 but she added 10,000 rubees more)

The main conflict in Sold is that the main character, Lakshmi, is supposed to go to the city and be a maid to help the family raise money for a tin roof. Lakshmi's step-father sells her to "Auntie Bilma", who in turn hands her to a man to get her over the border. Eventually Lakshmi arrives at the Happiness House in India, where she is repeatedly violated. She has to get 10,000 rupees to Mumtaz, the owner of the brothel. But, Mumtaz cheats Lakshmi of her money so she can never leave.

The solution to this conflict is when the strange man from America comes, and doesn't rape her, but simply talks to her, asking her if she wants to leave. Lakshmi, not knowing how she will pay back Mumtaz when she's at the new place, declines. The man gives her a business card. The business card is Lakshmi's ticket out. The American man helps her get out by the police and whatnot coming and taking her away (:

Sex traffic-ing and prostitution is a big problem in many countries though, not just India. Innocent young girls are sold with promises of money and riches for their families, where in reality, it just gives the girls pain and a life with those memories, if they ever get out.
