coarse has no prefix.

Although it starts "co-" , which is a prefix in words like "co-operate" or "co-conspirator" , it is not a prefix in this case. In this case, the word would make no sense without the first two letters.

Well, actually if you omit the "co-" from the beginning there is still a word left over, but it is a completely different word with a different meaning.

coarse is about texture, not the co-operation of derrière's.

Additionally, coarse cannot have a prefix attached on the front either. It can have suffixes like "-er" and "-est".
