The word librarian is normal a common noun and should notbe capitalized

Ex. The librarian is checking out books at the front desk.

Unless the word librarian is referring to a specific librarian, which would make it a proper noun, thus needing capitalization.

Ex. When Librarian Smith retired, many children missed her.

You can see that that because librarian is being used as a title (as opposed to Ms./Mrs./Mr.) it is not capitalized.

It is capitalized at the beginning of the sentence or when it forms part of the proper noun or when it precedes a person's name or when it is used as a direct address.

Examples:

Librarian Julie

Have you seen the new books, Librarian?
