Despite the French "Chateau" purchased by Robert and Edward Merzoian and Kenneth Sheffield in early 70's, the "Jean" part is actually pronounced like blue jeans and named after Jean Sheffield Merzoian -- sister-in-law, wife and sister, respectively, of the three founders.
