MALE CHAUVINIST (usually not capitalized despite the eponymous origin) is a term applied to a man who sees men as superior to women, or who does not respect the abilities of women, or who ascribes stereotypical attributes to the feminine gender at large. From "Chauvinism", or blind devotion, applied supposedly to Nicolas Chauvin, a French soldier under Napoleon. Despite suffering poverty and injury, he remained loyal to Napoleon.
